Intriguing. Insightful. Inspiring.
Those are the words Conrad Winn, a political science professor at Carleton University and the founder of COMPAS Research, uses to describe the Macdonald-Laurier Institute’s first five years as a thought leader on Canadian public policy.
“All the world’s experts in sorcery, witchcraft, and the forbidden arts should be commanded to descend on MLI to discover once and for all the root causes for how MLI can possibly create so much more intriguing, insightful, and inspiring product than countless organizations many, many times its size”, says Winn.
Winn is the co-author, with Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht, of the 2011 MLI study “What Do Muslim Canadians Want?”
The study examines the values and opinions of a sample of Canadian Muslims in order to understand their varied and extremely diverse attitudes on Canada and its institutions, terrorism, foreign policy, and Sharia law.
Throughout 2015, MLI is marking five years of true north in Canadian public policy by celebrating its unique contributions to thought leadership in Canada.
This includes our work on fixing Canadian health care, unmasking the true impact of “social licence” claims over natural resource projects, explaining why balanced budgets matter and our work on Aboriginal prosperity.
Several other influential Canadians have also passed along their congratulations. This includes public policy expert Dale Eisler, economist William Watson and historian Jack Granatstein.
