Bell and Telus have announced that they will join Rogers in opting to use companies other than Huawei to develop Canada’s 5G infrastructure. MLI Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley joined John Gormley to discuss this latest news and what it means for Canada. Dr. Crowley has been among Canada’s loudest voices warning against the risks of allowing Huawei into Canada’s 5G.
Dr. Crowley and Gormley discuss how the Trudeau government has handled the decision regarding Huawei’s participation in 5G and how this decision impacts Canada’s privacy, security, international relationships, sovereignty, and more.
“My assessment is that the government in Ottawa is terrified of doing anything that might offend the Chinese,” states Crowley. “It’s not that they necessarily are completely opposed to offending the Chinese, but they fear the action China will take in response.”
