OTTAWA, ON (March 15, 2022): We are pleased to announce that Jerome Gessaroli, Gregory John and Madeleine Redfern will be joining the Macdonald-Laurier Institute: Gessaroli as a Visiting Fellow, and John and Redfern as Senior Fellows.

Jerome Gessaroli teaches at the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s School of Business on corporate finance, security analysis, and advanced finance. He was also a visiting lecturer at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. Gessaroli is the lead Canadian co-author of four editions of the finance textbook, Financial Management Theory.
“Jerome brings “formidable and grounded expertise on economic and environmental matters to the Institute,” said Aaron Wudrick, MLI Domestic Policy Program Director,”. His experiences in both academia and the private sector are strong additions and his voice is one Canada needs to hear.”
Gregory John has accumulated a wealth of professional experience in two countries and across many industries. As a citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta, he has a mutual understanding of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous worlds. He has worked on some of the most important energy projects in Canada today.
“Gregory John brings to the Institute a substantial wealth of knowledge and experience,” notes Heather Exner-Pirot, MLI Senior Policy Analyst and Research Coordinator. “He exemplifies the kind of expertise that MLI is always eager to welcome, and we look forward to collaborating with him on Indigenous affairs.”
Madeleine Redfern is an Inuk woman involved in high-tech and innovation. She is actively involved in transformative technologies in telecommunications, transportation, and energy. The former Mayor of Iqaluit, Redfern is COO of CanArctic Inuit Networks Inc,, CEO of SednaLink Marine Systems, President of the Ajungi Consulting Group, Chair of the Nunavut Legal Services Board, and Co-Chair with the Gordon Munk Arctic Security Program, among other roles.
“Madeleine Redfern’s advocacy, professional, and governance work has shown her dedication and passion,” adds MLI Distinguished Fellow Ken Coates, who leads our Indigenous Policy Program. “In her capacity as an MLI Senior Fellow, she will build upon an impressive contributions to the Indigenous and Inuit communities.”
