The Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) was pleased to welcome Tony Abbott, former Prime Minister of Australia and MLI visiting senior fellow, to Toronto for a wide ranging discussion with MLI’s Managing Director, Brian Lee Crowley.
Mr. Abbott opened by discussing the similarities between Australia and Canada and laying out his mission to build a stronger relationship:
“Australia and Canada are vey similar countries: we’re both… resource rich countries, multi-ethnic societies. Immigration has been at the heart of our national stories and the fact that people have been able to come here from all corners of the world and build a good life is much to our credit and is much to the credit of our immigrants.
I’m determined to do what I can, in my post-parliamentary life, to build a stronger and deeper relationship between Australia and Canada.”
