On March 15, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Parliament, thanking Canada’s elected officials for their support and urging Ottawa to do more to help Ukraine in its battle on the frontline of democracy. At the same time, Canada imposed new sanctions on Russian officials and oligarchs tied to the Putin regime, and Russia imposed its own blacklist on Canadian notables and Parliamentarians. To make sense of the latest developments, MLI Senior Fellow Marcus Kolga (who was also named on the Kremlin’s blacklist) spoke with Ginella Massa on CBC’s Canada Tonight.
“President Zelenskyy is winning over the hearts and minds of every Western country in the world,” argues Kolga. “He’s certainly providing hope for his own people.”
“At the very least, what Canada can do is take leadership position among our allies in NATO, perhaps in the UN as well, to try to ensure that humanitarian corridors are secure.”
