With calls to capitulate to China and end the extradition proceedings of Meng Wanzhou gaining traction in some circles, former ambassador to China and member of MLI’s Advisory Council David Mulroney was on CBC’s Power & Politics to discuss why ending the extradition proceedings is the wrong course of action.
“The reality is that China is getting more aggressive, not less, and that it will double down on any technique that works,” explains Mulroney. “And we can expect it to double down on hostage diplomacy if somehow we were to acquiesce.”
