Writing in Vanguard Magazine, MLI Senior Fellow Alex Wilner says 21st century counterterrorism efforts will not meet with the same defined end as previous conflicts such as the First World War, which started 100 years ago last month.
He says Western powers need to recognize that success in using counterterrorism against al Qaeda and other terrorist groups will be more incremental – and adjust their strategies accordingly.
