MLI Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht joined the Jerry Agar Show to discuss recent news of Ukrainian successes on the frontline. According to Leuprecht, although the Ukrainian side cannot afford attrition in a direct confrontation with Russian forces, the Ukrainian forces’ ability to compel the Russian army to reorganise and relocate troops in Southern Ukraine is a positive sign.
“There are reports of the Russians abandoning posts, tanks, vehicles, and going on the run that show the Russians are not willing to fight,” said Leuprecht. “The Ukrainians have the advantage that their troops are probably quite fatigued after months of fighting but continue to be highly motivated. If you are able to mount a sort of counter-offensive and do it successfully, even troops that are fatigued and a little frustrated with the defensive warfare that has been engaged in for months would now be very motivated to go after the Russians.”
