In the wake of the horrific far-right terrorist attack in Christchurch New Zealand which targeted Muslims during prayer, MLI Munk Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht joined Global News to discuss the security dimensions of the attack and how government bodies might respond.
According to Leuprecht, this attack is an outlier in Oceania, which has had far fewer mass shooting incidents than North America. As a member of the Five Eyes, Leuprecht suggests that New Zealand may work to coordinate its security response alongside Canada, Australia, the UK.
50 Muslims were killed and another 50 were injured in two Christchurch Mosques during the March 15th attack. The suspect in the terrorist attack, a self-avowed white supremacist with extreme far-right views, is in police custody.
