Christian Leuprecht, Munk Senior Fellow, security expert, and professor at Queen’s University and the Royal Military College joins Jeff McArthur to discuss how Ottawa residents and police are bracing for reinforcements due to possible ‘freedom’ protests on Canada Day.
“We’ll certainly need to be looking out for people who are coming to Ottawa with the intent of engaging in activity that is not just illegal but potentially criminal and potentially seditious,” says Leuprecht. “That provides challenges for local MPs, it provides challenges for cabinet and for the Prime Minister in terms of their security, and it provides challenges for local populations because we saw considerable disregard for peace and public order by protestors.”
