Jim Peterson, former Liberal Member of Parliament for Willowdale and cabinet minister in Paul Martin and Jean Chrétien’s governments, has passed away at the age of 82.
The Macdonald-Laurier Institute was saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was a great Canadian and a long-time friend of the Institute.
Kim Furlong, a former staffer to Jim and the CEO of the Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association, wrote a touching tribute to Jim that rings true to those at the Institute who had the pleasure of gleaning from Jim’s wisdom over the years.
She wrote: “He was intelligent, humble and had a wonderful sense of humour. Anyone who he met walked away feeling the warmth of his personality and having felt seen and heard.”
Our deep condolences to Jim’s loved ones for their loss.
