After six years in federal politics, independent MP and former Minister of Justice and Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould will not be seeking re-election. MLI Senior Fellow Ken Coates joined On Point to discuss the implications of this decision and the impact that Wilson-Raybould had on federal politics.
“Jody Wilson-Raybould demonstrated that principles have a place in politics,” notes Coates. “That people of high moral standing who are willing to sacrifice power and prestige for doing what’s right for the country as a whole can end up being attacked, vilified and marginalized by the very government that made a concerted effort to draw her in. This is really sad day for Canada.”
