In the latest edition of Inside Policy, the magazine of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, University of Saskatchewan professor Carin Holroyd calls on the federal government to turn Canada into a digital content powerhouse.
Holroyd applauds the government’s willingness to take on the issue with its Digital Canada 150 initiative. However, she says, that likely won’t be enough to help spawn the next Google, Facebook or BlackBerry.
She recommends the government look to other countries’ initiatives, which include creating high-profile showcases of digital content and innovation hubs that help foster nascent digital companies.
