Federal civil servants call in sick more frequently than their private-sector counterparts, but it’s not because they’re ill more often.
It’s because they have the motivation and opportunity to do so.
That’s what Philip Cross, Macdonald-Laurier Institute Senior Fellow, told BNN while discussing his paper comparing sick leave in the private and public sectors.
He gives several suggestions for curing the public sector’s sick-leave malaise.
Cross’ paper was also profiled by Global TV, Radio-Canada, CBC’s The Exchange, Yahoo News, the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and the Sun Media chain of newspapers.
