Following a recent op ed on how Canada can leverage its energy advantage into a geopolitical one, MLI Munk Senior Fellow Shuvaloy Majumdar joined Charles Adler to discuss why this would be the right move for Canada.
“For Canada, we are deeply endowed with vast national resources,” says Majumdar. “Energy diplomacy is something we should be caring deeply about because of how the supply of energy to new and emerging markets in the Indo-Pacific region will shape the next 50 years to come.”

Majumdar and Adler also discussed the role of foreign actors and money influencing Canadian elections and policy, and how these actors have damaged Canada’s ability to develop its resource economy.
Shuvaloy Majumdar is the Munk senior fellow for foreign policy at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, and a former policy director to Canadian foreign ministers.
