It’s been nearly 50 years since the CRTC, Canada’s telecommunications and broadcast regulator, received an updated mandate from elected officials.
That’s way too long, MLI Munk Senior Fellow Sean Speer told CBC’s On The Money.
“The question is: How do we level the playing field so that Canadian firms can compete in this new, dynamic digital marketplace and still provide content that Canadian consumers want?”
The interview was based on a paper, co-authored by Speer and Len Katz, that maps out a blueprint for an updated CRTC.
The paper also received coverage in the Financial Post, The Canadian Press and Vice.
