On November 19, CFRA’s Rick Gibbons interviewed MLI managing director Brian Lee Crowley on the Harper Conservatives’ record on reducing the size of government. The Globe and Mail’s Bill Curry has reported that when one looks at total revenue, by 2015 the federal government will be at its smallest size relative to GDP in the last 50 years. Crowley notes that while the government got “knocked off course” by the recession, “the Tories are just getting back on track, a track that was established by the Liberals under Paul Martin and Jean Chrétien.” Crowley adds that current trends reflect a “pretty frugal” federal government.
