August 22, 2011 – All of us involved in the Macdonald-Laurier Institute would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jack Layton, as well as his colleagues in the New Democratic party of Canada. His sudden passing is a huge loss for our country and our politics. His dedication to Canada and its citizens was inspirational, and his service to his party was unstinting. Parliament, the political scene and Canada in general will all be the poorer for his untimely death.
