When German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met in Canada recently, they announced their intention to work together on providing a stable and secure supply of a new type of energy to meet German demand: hydrogen.
Though still in its nascent stages, there are unique economic and security opportunities for both countries that could be unlocked through the Canada-Germany Hydrogen Alliance. But what are the challenges that must be overcome to seize these opportunities? How can Canada avoid the hurdles that have frustrated resource development, production, and export for decades? What must be done to move from potential opportunities toward realized benefits for both Canadian and German societies?
In this webinar, Canadian and German experts will discuss these important questions. This conversation is tied to a forthcoming paper to be jointly published by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and EPICO, which will explore the opportunities and challenges of building a hydrogen partnership.
