The COVID-19 pandemic has unmasked how weak the Canadian health care system really is. MLI Senior Fellow Dr. Shawn Whatley joins Stephen LeDrew on the LeDrew Three Minute Interview to discuss the state of the Canadian health care system. Whatley and LeDrew explore how a shortage of hospital beds contributes to Canada’s beleaguered COVID response, but he points out that this is a long-term problem.
“Every single winter, we want to cancel surgeries and we have hallway medicine due to influenza,” notes Whatley. “This time round we get to blame COVID-19.”
