In the Toronto Star, Carol Goar writes in her article “Paper wealth provides little security” she quotes MLI’s Senior Fellow Philip Cross on his opinion regarding the Statistics Canada report stating that “most Canadian families are richer than they were before the resession… Their net worth increased 45 per cent between 2005 and 2012.”
Philip Cross agrees with this Statistics Canada Report, stating that “This shows the middle class isn’t withering away. It’s not like they are living from paycheque to paycheque, which is the way a lot of the narrative surrounding the middle class has been framed.”
