Bringing Clarity to Judicial Decisions

The Landmark Cases Council (LCC) is designed to bring clarity and accountability to judicial decision-making in Canada. Composed of a council of leading legal scholars, the LCC will critically analyze key Supreme Court of Canada rulings by producing independent legal commentaries. These analyses will shed light on how judicial interpretation aligns—or diverges—from the principles of constitutionalism, the rule of law, and deference to the democratic will of Parliament.

By offering rigorous scholarship in an accessible format, the LCC aims to foster public understanding of judicial reasoning, highlight the implications of landmark rulings, and encourage a deeper conversation about the proper role of the courts within Canada’s constitutional framework
