On Feb. 18, 2015, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute hosted a celebration of Sir John A. Macdonald at the Canadian Museum of History.
Among the speakers was R.H. Thomson, an actor who played Sir John A. Macdonald.
“Government is not so much about power as it is stewardship”, he says. “Becoming a government does not necessarily mean that you inherit the ownership of a nation for four years. It’s really about steering a nation by holding the reins of power with trust – a trust given to you by all of the electorate invested in you”.
The video also features introductory remarks from Ailish Campbell, Vice-President International at the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
