Chief of the Fort Nelson First Nations Sharleen Gale joined MLI Senior Fellow Jamil Jivani to discuss persistent narratives in media about Indigenous peoples, economic development, and the role First Nations can play in Canada’s economic recovery.
“I find that the media often is looking for stories that show division or crisis,” explains Gale. “Particularly when it comes to First Nations communities. It seems they’re always looking to report on whose for something or whose against something.”
