MLI Senior Fellow Balkan Devlen joined the News Forum to discuss the rising tensions between retired admirals and the government over the proposed use of key waterways in Turkey.
The 1936 Montreal Convention “reaffirms and secures Turkey’s sovereignty over the Turkish Straights,” says Devlen. “More importantly, it also regulates the number and tonnage of ships, warships, that can go through Turkish Straights into the Black Sea.”
