With the now former Finance Minister Bill Morneau passing the torch to Chrystia Freeland, the new Minister is left with one of government’s most challenging files amidst an economic crisis. Jack Mintz joined BNN Bloomberg to discuss the challenges set before Minister Freeland.
“Well, Chrystia Freeland is a very bright woman,” says Mintz. “The challenge though is she really doesn’t have a lot of background in various areas nor the connections with the business community, the banking community, that one would perhaps like to have.”
Mintz explains that Minister Freeland has to balance the economic devastation wrought by COVID-19 alongside ballooning government deficit spending.
