Prosecutors have said that the attack in London, Ontario that left four dead and one injured was an attack of terrorism. MLI Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht discussed the new charges announced Monday.
“The communication [strategies] by politicians have surprised me. It’s not in keeping with protocols and it’s not in keeping with best practices in democracies as we’ve developed them since 9/11 attacks,” notes Leuprecht. “Which usually means that politicians stand by until such time when investigative authority makes public its charges as well as some of the evidence. So I’m always deeply concerned when politicians weigh in.”
