MLI Munk Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht spoke with CTV News about the federal government’s 2022 budget. The budget includes a promise to increase defence spending by $8 billion. “I think there’s a realization that for the last 20 years, Canada essentially has discretion as to which missions it chooses and what force packages it deploys,” says Leuprecht. “With the invasion of Ukraine, it has become apparent that Canada no longer has that discretion.”
