Senior Fellow Charles Burton joined CTV News to discuss China’s 20th Communist Party Congress where Xi Jinping, the paramount leader, is expected to further consolidate his control of the Communist Party.
“It’s very worrying when you get a strongman leader who concentrates the power of the state and the party into his person with a minimum of checks and balances, no successor, no real collective sharing of power – and he has a very aggressive program of authoritarian rule over China,” said Burton.
