The federal government’s recent announcement about a budget surplus is a clear sign that the Canadian economy is doing better than expected, Macdonald-Laurier Institute Managing Director Brian Lee Crowley told CTV News Channel.
“The clear winner is the Canadian people and the Canadian economy because what this means is that (the economy) is growing faster than what everyone has been thinking for the last little while”, says Crowley.
“Tax revenues are enormously sensitive to economic growth”.
On Monday the federal government’s Department of Finance announced a budget surplus for the 2014-15 fiscal year of $1.9 billion.
