Colonial Pipeline is facing criticism for using outdated technology after falling victim to a widescale cyber attack from Russian hackers. The consequence of the hack was a multi-day shut down of a major US pipeline, causing gas shortages, rising prices, and consumer panic. MLI Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht joined Forum Daily to warn that Canada’s infrastructure is vulnerable to similar attacks.
“It shows that our adversaries, both state and non-state actors, are both extremely sophisticated and are extremely active in this domain to get their hands on anything,” says Leuprecht on the recent cyberattacks.
