OTTAWA, ON (May 27, 2024):
As Canada prioritizes Arctic security and NORAD modernization, Inuit-led solutions are set to play a pivotal role.
To facilitate critical partnership, the Inuit Development Corporation Association (IDCA) and the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) are hosting a one-day forum today (May 27) at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
The event brings together northern leaders, Inuit businesses, military and government officials, academics, and defence industry representatives.
The forum features keynote speeches, expert panels, and networking sessions aimed at integrating northern and Indigenous voices into Canada’s defence planning.
Key Benefits of Inuit Participation in NORAD modernization:
- Economic Development: Contracts and projects awarded to Inuit businesses will drive local economic growth and create jobs.
- Enhanced Infrastructure: Investments in transportation, communications, and energy infrastructure will benefit both military operations and local communities.
- Cultural and Environmental Stewardship: Inuit traditional knowledge will ensure that development respects and preserves the unique Arctic environment.
