May 30, 2011 – In today’s issue of the Hill Times, Brian Lee Crowley discusses Canada-U.S. border security and how “American administration officials can go too far and use highly-exaggerated claims of danger from Canada to justify enforcement actions out of all proportion to the problem”. Crowley states that there is a desire among our Congressional allies to make the Canada-U.S. border more open and accommodating while still being “tough on terrorism”, but that “these pleas are falling on pretty deaf ears”. Therefore, Prime Minister Stephen Harper will need to rely on these powerful Congressional allies to negotiate a perimeter border agreement with the Obama administration.
