As Prime Minsiter Trudeau faces the stinging defeat of losing the United Nations Security Council seat vote, questions now swirl around why Canada failed to secure a seat. MLI Senior Fellow Jonathan Berkshire Miller joined Geoff Currier to discuss this foreign policy failure and what it means for Canada.
“Canada, of course, we deserve a seat the UNSC, but I think some the actions that this administration in particular have taken have been disingenuous,” says Berkshire Miller. “Some of the strains of Canada’s foreign policy has followed it to this vote.”
The two further discuss the possible reasons and rationale for why Canada lost the vote and, on a broader level, what this means for Canada’s foreign policy as Canada moves on from this failure.
