On March 11, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, in collaboration with the World Anti-Extremism Network, hosted a dialogue on Afghanistan, bringing together Canadian thought leaders, international representatives, and Afghanistan scholars.
The discussion focused on the future of Afghanistan, addressing key topics such as international engagement, human rights, and the country’s ongoing humanitarian crisis and followed closely on the heels of the recent UN meeting in Doha, providing a platform to analyze its outcomes and explore the role of Canada and the global community in shaping Afghanistan’s path forward. A special emphasis was placed on safeguarding human rights, fostering equality for both men and women, and combating authoritarianism.
Notable keynote speakers from both Canada and Afghanistan shared their insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the nation, while participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions on promoting peace and pluralism in the region.
