On November 17, 2025, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, in partnership with the Embassy of Israel, hosted a panel discussion on the Iranian regime and the global threat it presents through its terrorist networks and proxies.

The event featured two panels moderated by Alex Wilner, with the first panel, featuring Senior Fellow Dr. Casey Babb, Danny Eisen of Secure Canada, Udi Evental of the Institute for Policy & Strategy, and Andrea Stricker of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. Speakers discussed the evolution of Tehran’s nuclear program, and the challenge of designing effective international responses to counter it.

The second panel, featured Beni Sabti of the Institute for National Security Studies, and Senior Fellow Kaveh Shahrooz in a discussion exploring how Tehran targets dissidents and activists, finances terrorist networks, and orchestrates disinformation campaigns to project its power abroad.

Both discussions emphasized how these tactics extend Iran’s destabilizing influence well beyond its borders to threaten global peace and security with experts and underscored the importance of coordinated international responses to pressure the regime and support its democratic opposition.
