The Paris attacks that killed more than a hundred people came as a shock to nearly everyone involved, Christian Leuprecht, a Senior Fellow with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, told CTV.
“This is something that I think people feel they see on TV in the Middle East but that it has hit home here – and at such a scale – has I think taken everybody by surprise”, he said.
Leuprecht was a go-to source for analysis on what the attacks will mean for global security. He also spoke with Global TV, CBC News online, CBC Radio One and the Ottawa Citizen.
“President Hollande said these attacks were planned in Syria … that planning cell might also have reached back into other countries … the Canadian government will be studying both (anti-terror bill) C-51 and the national security regime we have in place very carefully after these attacks”, he told Global TV.
