The world awoke to shock and horror on October 7th, 2023. What has become clear in the year since Hamas’s barbaric attack on Israel is that the status quo of the past few decades is no longer sustainable. We have entered a new era of geopolitical relations in the Middle east, ethnic tension, and diaspora politics in Canada and across the Western world.
In response, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI), Canada’s premier national think-tank, is leading the way with a first-of-its-kind policy program. The Promised Land project addresses the critical gap of expert thought leadership that has enabled antisemitism to thrive. Through this initiative, we aim to fundamentally reshape how Canadians view Israel, the Middle East conflict, antisemitism, and extremism.
