Professor Christian Leuprecht joined Anthony Furey for his take on how ISIS has found a new life in the shadows after the Caliphate.
According the Leuprecht, the resurfacing of al-Baghdadi reminds us “about what military experts have long warned.”
“We can use military might to defeat ISIS on the battlefield, but as an organization, it will prove resilient and will go underground.”
Leuprecht explains that ISIS’s capacity to engage in terrorist activities has always gone beyond its territory holdings. With a global network and the capacity to still inspire radicalization and violence, truly combating ISIS will require a concerted non-military efforts as well.
