On March 12th, MLI contributors Dr. Robert W. Murray and Dr. Anita Dey Nuttall of the University of Alberta were in the Windsor Star with an Op Ed titled, Why the Arctic matters.
First published by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute on February 28, 2011, the authors raise substantial questions, as the lead indicates, “Canadians care about the Arctic. But they also care about defending our sovereignty the old-fashioned way. The extent of public support for traditional views about territorial integrity and national defence should give us pause as we debate the meaning of security in a globalized world.”
