On October 11, the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies hosted an international security summit in Montreal supported by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Canada and the Canadian Department of Defense and in partnership with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.
The Security Summit addressed essential questions on the war in Ukraine, the lessons to be drawn from the war, its implications for global stability, and Canada’s role in reinforcing regional and global security. The role of China was also addressed, noting its ambitions under the Xi Jinping government.
As an official partner, the Macdonald-Laurier Institute was represented by Jonathan Berkshire Miller, senior fellow and Director of Foreign Affairs, National Defence and National Security at MLI; Dr. Balkan Devlen, Director of the Transatlantic Program and senior fellow as well as senior fellows Marcus Kolga and Alexander Lanoszka, and visiting fellow Kyoko Kuwahara.
