: Senior Fellow

Expert Overview

Kevin Vuong, FRSA, is a former parliamentarian, entrepreneur, and military officer. He is dedicated to building, defending, and serving Canada – both in and out of uniform – for welcoming his parents and other refugees when countries were closing their borders to people fleeing the violence and persecution following the Vietnam War.

Elected at the age of 32, he was the youngest MP of Asian heritage to serve in Parliament and the first independent nominated by his peers to the executive committee of the Canadian Parliamentary Network to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Prior to his election, Vuong  was co-founder and chief operating officer at Delphic Research Group, one of Canada's leading govtech firms, and before that a consultant to the thought leadership team at the Royal Bank of Canada’s Office of the CEO and Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

Vuong also serves as a naval reserve officer in the Royal Canadian Navy at the rank of Lieutenant (Navy) and presently is a member of the strategic advisory team at His Majesty’s Canadian Ship York. In 2020, he was appointed Canada’s NATO 2030 Young Leader by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Vuong previously lectured at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine and Western University. His research has examined artificial intelligence and bias, the future of work, with a special report on the future of health care skills, and what it means for Canada and the nation’s prosperity in the age of disruption.

Vuong was named a medallist of HM The Queen’s Young Leader for Canada in 2017; Canada’s Top 30 Under 30 in 2016; and Canada’s Top Under 30 Pan-Asian Leader in 2014.
