Canada-China relations have dramatically shifted since the arbitrary detention of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor in retaliation for the arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou. Amidst strained ties, MLI Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht joined the Forum Daily to discuss the future of Canada-China relations.
To Leuprecht, China represents the single greatest foreign policy challenge “that Canada has faced in decades.” Leuprecht adds that “there’s broad agreement that we’re doing is probably not working.”
Leuprecht goes on to discuss the complexity of Canada’s relationship with China and how Canada should move forward with its China approach.
