January 24, 2013 – MLI Senior Fellow Ken Coates appeared on CTV News to discuss Chief Theresa Spence’s hunger strike. He also was quoted in a Vancouver Sun article discussing whether Spence hurt or helped the aboriginal cause. An excerpt below:
“Chief Spence ended up, I think, detracting attention from Idle No More and changing the nature of what people saw in that movement,” said Ken Coates, Canada Research Chair in regional innovation at the University of Saskatchewan. “Not everybody in Idle No More was fully supportive of what she was doing.”
