The Macdonald-Laurier Institute is partnering with Dawson Strategic for an expert discussion on contraband tobacco featuring Dr. Christian Leuprecht.
OTTAWA, Nov. 18, 2014 – Key experts will meet in Ottawa to discuss the latest research and ideas to combat the trade of illicit tobacco products and effectively intervene in stemming its role in funding crime and terror.
The Anti-Contraband Tobacco Working Group will convene on the same day the Auditor General of Canada tables a chapter on the RCMP’s effectiveness in stemming the flow of transnational crime. This meeting is supported by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and Dawson Strategic.
Join Dr. Christian Leuprecht, Political Science and Economics Associate Professor at the Royal Military College of Canada, as he shares the very latest research on contraband tobacco and its links to terror and crime.
You’ll also hear from Suzanne Hayden, of FTM Global Recovery LLC, an international prosecutor experienced in organized crime and terrorist financing and Dr. Vanessa Neumann, President of Asymmetrica, an expert in the complex world of both legal and illicit movement of tobacco products.
These three experts will be guided in an engaging discussion about what’s working and what isn’t in the fight against the illicit tobacco trade and how Canada can do more.
