MLI’s Brian Lee Crowley appeared yesterday on the Business News Network’s “Squeeze Play”. The lead segment of the show took on the bubbling issue of corporate income tax cuts. Crowley and CAW economist Jim Stanford made the opposite cases for and against a continuation of Canada’s long-held policy of lowering corporate tax rates. A policy that, as Dr. Crowley noted, is one that was initiated by the Liberal governments of Jean Chretien and Paul Martin and has been continued by the current Stephen Harper Conservative administration. Echoing the Laurier-era themes of fiscal sanity and low taxation from MLI’s best-selling book, The Canadian Century, Crowley said, “There is no good time to bring in bad tax policy.”
