August 24, 2011, Ottawa, ON – The Macdonald-Laurier Institute would like to congratulate Research Advisory Board Member Dr. Larry Martin on receiving the highly coveted Wilson Loree Award for Excellence in Farm Business Management. Dr. Martin received the award for his work with the Canadian Total Excellence in Agricultural Management (CTEAM) program.
According to MLI Managing Director, Brian Lee Crowley, “It was no surprise to us at MLI to learn that Larry Martin has received such accolades in the agriculture world. We know from working with him as both an author and a member of our Research Advisory Board that he is one of the best informed people in the country on agricultural issues, and is a wonderful colleague to boot.”
In his acceptance speech Dr. Martin stated, “I am proud to receive this award. I’m particularly proud to have been nominated by a set of outstanding young entrepreneurs from three provinces. That tells me that we have a sound formula for CTEAM and have been able to deliver it effectively. They may have learned from us, but we have learned much from them.”
The Canadian Farm Business Management Council presents this annual award to an individual or group who has made an extraordinary contribution in the area of business management, adapting best practices from other sectors to agriculture, and finding new ways to deliver training, information and resources to farm managers.
Larry Martin is a Senior Research Fellow at the George Morris Centre in Guelph, Ontario. He is also a Research Advisory Board Member for the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.
