Macdonald-Laurier Institute Senior Fellow Philip Cross spoke to the CBC Radio One program The 180 about the economic costs of implementing a carbon tax.
Last week, Cross penned a column in the Financial Post arguing that it’s unreasonable to expect implementing a carbon tax won’t be harmful to the economy.
He echoed those thoughts in the interview on CBC.
“I think to have significantly lower emissions you’re going to have to have a very hefty tax, and if you have a hefty tax there’s going to be implications for economic growth”, Cross told the program.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said last week she isn’t ruling out implementing a carbon tax.
