: Senior Fellow
A former senior public servant and political aide, Martin Green brings more than 15 years of specialized experience in foreign affairs, defence policy, national security, and intelligence issues.
From 2015-2024, Green served as assistant secretary to Cabinet, Intelligence Assessment, the Privy Council Office, where he provided covert and open-source foreign intelligence analysis to the prime minister, Cabinet, and the senior leadership of the Government of Canada. In this capacity Green played a key leadership role in the Canadian intelligence community and fostered relationships with allied intelligence organizations and other partners globally. As director general of policy planning at the Department of National Defence (2011–15), Green advised senior Government of Canada leadership on emerging global security trends including cyber and space policy, export permits, foreign investment arms control and non-proliferation.
Previously, Green held senior management positions at Environment Canada, in the Intergovernmental Affairs and Ops Secretariats of the Privy Council Office, Industry Canada, and at Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. Prior to joining the public service, Green was a senior political aide to several ministers of the Crown including: the ministers of Industry, Trade, Environment, as well as to the president of Treasury Board. During this time Green also worked on the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary and in the Senate of Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Glendon College, York University, Toronto.
