Deputy Managing Director, Editorial and Operations
Mike Therien is Deputy Managing Director, Editorial and Operations of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. Prior to joining MLI, he was a career journalist and media manager. He has held positions including: Quebecor/Sun Media’s Vice President of Multiplatform Content; Editor-in-Chief of the Toronto and Ottawa Suns; Editor of the New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal; Senior Director of Content Strategy for Transcontinental Media. Mike has been National News Editor and also led the Parliamentary Bureau for Sun Media Corp. He was part of a team that built the national wire service, QMI Agency. News operations in his leadership groups have included the Kingston Whig-Standard, Belleville Intelligencer, Peterborough Examiner and Metro Montreal. He is a Journalism graduate and Ottawa native.
